GMK received a grant from the GE Foundation to implement Maternal and Neonatal Care Health Services in Honduras. The grant provides funding for three years.

The Consortium of Southern African Medical Schools CONSAMS) met for a second and final day to develop a strategy and to work out an agenda for the coming year. Professor Willie Vorster from Namibia mapped an excellent roadmap on medical education strategy for new schools. Country reports on the medical education efforts at the schools in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho and Zambia were delivered. The meeting was concluded with a wrap up by Dr. Q. Eichbaum who initiated CONSAMS with plans to hold the next CONSAMS meeting next fall. GMK was again invited to attend.
